1. Excuse Miss- Chris Brown b/w
Grillz Rapmullet.com Mixtape Review The blend General - Shogun is back at it again. The title says Unpredictable, hmmmm, I have a feeling we will be blessed with an array of different types of blends from all angles. If you've never heard a Shogun CD he comes from the "classic" school of three turntables and no bullshit. A relative party in jewel case if I might say. "Excuse Me Miss" blend got me walking around the club approaching broads like "Excuse me Miss, that outfit you have on would look great in a crumpled heap next to my bed" (Slap!) Damn, It's like that? "Lesbian!" LOL. Shogun proceeds to put in that work on the "Soul Survivor" blend, flipping the beats to "Who Shot Ya?", "Deep Cover" and "Dead Wrong". He even fixed the blend live when it started to fall off, that's how you do it too! Honestly, Shogun started to lose me after this blend. "Bad Girl" just couldn't get my head nodding and Sunshine Anderson sounded type man-ish all slowed down like that over Mobb Deep. Ok, ok, Shogun brings in back with Ne Yo blowing over the beat for "All I Need" by Mary J and Meth. Let me get in the ride real quick, I'll be back, this is that HIGHWAY music. "A Little Bit of Love" blend had me breezing through the EZ PASS at 65 mph, can never go wrong fucking with New Edition. I'm def sick of "I'm Sprung" by Mr. Can't Sing a Note but Shogun flipped it with some classic Juice Crew beats. Shogun lost me again with the reggae blends. "We Be Burning" was too slow almost sounded screwed. "Playa's Only" was redeeming with classic Primo through and through. The Gap Band blend is classic as is the "So Sick" blend over classic Dr. Dre. The CD was def unpredictable and then some. Bottom line though is it has bangin' blends on it but not enough to make it a bangin' CD. You dig? Def worth cop'n, especially if you’re like me and rip your favorite blends from every CD and then make your own shit. Decent start to the year for Shogun, you can expect a classic or two from this man before the year is out. The people need that party shit Shogun, three turntables, a mic and a sampler all in one take! (1-11-05)
